The BAT Group applies worldwide approximately 460,000 tons of tobacco leaves per year, about 80 percent of which comes from farmers and suppliers in emerging markets. The aim is to ensure that the tobacco comes only from sustainable and responsible sources. British American Tobacco Germany was one of the first companies within the group, which began in 2001 with the Social Reporting process. To date, it is the only tobacco product manufacturers in Germany, for conducting such a process and takes into account including societal expectations of corporate strategy.
